Billy Idol once gave Bam Margera’s $250,000 Lamborghini Gallardo supercar a DIY sunroof, just because he wanted to feel the sun.

In a clip that has recently resurfaced on social media, Idol was driving around with Margera in his Lamborghini Gallardo.

Idol and some of his friends decided to cut a sunroof into the supercar, with Margera’s permission.

It was a very slapdash job – they literally cut straight into the roof – but it has since been tidied up.

A DIY sunroof for the Lamborghini Gallardo

Bam Margera wanted to feel the sun on his head and experience a fresh breeze inside his Italian supercar.

While Lamborghini does make convertible versions of its supercars, they don’t make them with a sunroof.

To get the sunroof, that meant Margera and Idol needed to cut into the roof themselves.

A couple of friends came by to help them out with the task.

Dedicated enthusiasts probably winced at what happened next.

A cutting tool cut straight into the roof of the supercar, and as you can imagine, it wasn’t the neatest job in the world.

The sunroof was tidied up

Images have also reemerged recently of the Lamborghini, not long after the sunroof was cut.

Where there was once a rather untidy hole, it has thankfully now been thoroughly tidied up.

The Gallardo now has a proper sunroof installed, which looks as if it was supposed to be there.

It looks so good that you would think Lamborghini had done it from the factory.

Convertible supercars are nothing new, but they aren’t always available on every model.

Sunroofs are rarer still, with most manufacturers offering Spyder versions of their cars.

You probably didn’t expect to see Billy Idol being one of the first to create a sunroof on a Lamborghini.

It was, however, all done in good humor, and Margera clearly didn’t mind having a hole cut into the car.

We’re just glad the job got done properly in the end.
