This is the bizarre loophole that created the most hated road trip in America in Pennsylvania.

American YouTuber Phil Edwards took a trip to Breezewood, Pennsylvania, where the Breezewood Interchange is, linking I-70 onto Lincoln Highway US-30.

This section of road has become one of the most notorious in America. It is a road trip destination from hell, and it was all thanks to a quirky loophole.

It is a location worth exploring to understand why so many Americans feel it is a road trip destination from hell.

Why the bizarre loophole created the most hated road trip in America

The interchange is one of the most intriguing roads in the world, and is actually where I-70 and I-76 intersect.

The intersection requires a detour onto Lincoln Highway US-30.

Motorists have to use US-30 to get between I-70 and I-76, which is also known as the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The interchange leads to various commercial outlets in the area.

Looking at maps, it is easy to see why it has become a nightmare.

It stretches two miles in total, and used to thrive due to heavy traffic between the two.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, however, traffic has slowly eased off.

Its creation came about thanks to a loophole that meant that had a direct link been built, then the local area would have lost the Turnpike toll road.

By going about it in this way, the authorities could use Federal money to build the interchange and not worry about losing the toll road.

There are proposals to create a new, more direct link in the area.

The authorities will then create an outdoor recreation center where motorists can stop off and visit.

The interchange was immortalized in a famous photograph

A famous image of the interchange helped to immortalize the location.

The image shows an Exxon garage, a McDonald’s, a Sunoco garage, and more outlets, all very close together.

In the middle of it all is a section of the interchange.

While it is not a full picture of the location, it gives us an excellent idea of what it could be like for those who visit.

It is also easy to see why so many on road trips dread coming up to the interchange.

The community, however, has decided that it is for the best if the whole area gets a major, simpler redesign.

It’s being welcomed by those who live near it and those who drive through it.

That should ensure it is no longer the most hated road trip in America, and becomes a much easier section of road in the United States.
