BMW has just unveiled a new automatic camera cleaning system, proving it’s well ahead of the game when it comes to innovative tech.
The Bavarian manufacturer is one of the world’s most popular companies, selling more than two million cars in 2024 alone.
But it’s not resting on its laurels.
While its new camera cleaning system might not sound like the most exciting tech advancement, it’s got a lot going for it.

BMW introduces automatic camera cleaning system
As if BMW cars were not technologically advanced enough, the brand has taken it to the next level.
It always tends to be annoying when car wing mirrors and cameras get covered in dirt and grime.
Even wet weather can limit how effective modern technology is in the real world.
Now, BMW may have just come up with the solution.
Last year, BMW introduced a self-cleaning camera system for its newest range of cars.
The process is also really easy to use.

This is where you can find it:
All BMW cars come with its in-drive software system, iDrive.
To activate this smart technology, you use the center console to access “iDrive” from the display.
From there, BMW owners head into the main “MENU” and navigate into “Vehicle Apps.”
After selecting “Vehicle Apps”, BMW owners then head into “Parking” and “More”.
It will then display the “Camera cleaning” option, giving you the choice of which camera you want cleaned.
Once that is activated, the BMW logo will physically open at the front and back of the car.
Small, powerful jets of water are activated from the logo – and clean the cameras without you having to step foot out of the car.
BMW clear that the combustion engine is here to stay
Like other major car brands, BMW is always looking for ways to move with the times.
The Bavarians, however, have maintained that the combustion engine is a core part of its future.

Unlike other brands, BMW has consistently maintained a root in the past to move towards the future.
The topic of technological advancements for cars is an ever-growing one.
A recent topic of interest was Ford CEO Jim Farley and his thoughts on Tesla’s self-driving technology.
As BMW continues to move and improve, future changes and evolutions will be very interesting to follow.
