Before you pack your bags, you should know that this Boeing 787 Dreamliner was not bringing tourists to Antarctica.

The Norse Atlantic Airways plane made history by landing the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the icy continent.

The Norwegian airline was not taking tourists, but dropping off 45 researchers and 12 tons of gear.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner landed on Troll Airfield, home to Troll research station in Queen Maud Land, Antarctica.

The runway sits on a glacier made of snow and hard blue ice measuring 9,840 feet long by 100 feet wide.

Even landing on the airfield is scary enough to make it onto our list of the most dangerous airports to land at in the world.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner was chosen for the mission due to its roomy cargo holds.

The aircraft is absolutely massive in size, so much so, that even its engine looks like a missile in this video.

Since Antarctica lacks traditional airports, planes must land on ‘blue ice’ runways.

The airline shared the video of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner landing and taking off from the icy runway.
