Brabus unveils deep red V8 convertible with 1,000hp that's even faster than it looks

Brabus just unveiled the new Rocket GTC Deep Red, a modified Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance with a V8 and 1,000hp.

It looks great in this color.

And more importantly, it’s even faster than it looks.

There’s only one minor ‘issue’ to bear in mind.

Why Brabus calls it ‘Deep Red’

Brabus calls it the Rocket GTC Deep Red for the same reason they call its twin Deep Blue.

The German tuning company opted for a very lively and vivid shade of red that almost looks ‘volcanic’.

In addition to that, the tuning firm also added a ducktail rear spoiler, a massive diffuser, and wide carbon arches.

The interior matches the exterior, with deep red leather interior and carbon fiber accents for the dashboard, the steering wheel, and the door panels.

The only ‘minor’ drawback is the price.

It costs €830,000 in Europe, which theoretically translates to around $936,000.

But, in practice, the actual ticket price for the US is probably going to be even higher than that.

Brabus listed the price as being ‘on request’, presumably because of import duties and taxes, which means it’ll probably end up costing would-be owners somewhere north of $1 million.

It’s faster than it looks

The standard Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance is plenty fast enough, but this one is a lot faster.

The 4.5-liter V8 that powers it is the same one that was used for the G-Wagen 900 and the ‘original’ Rocket 1000.

The V8 in this sports car delivers 1,000hp, as the name suggests, and gives the car a 0-60mph time of 2.6 seconds, while 0-124mph takes 9.5 seconds and just over 25 seconds to get to 186mph.

The top speed is electronically limited to 197mph.
