New vehicles are coming thick and fast, but if you prefer your motors faster than thicker, these are the latest new production cars that can do 0-60mph in under five seconds.
The 0-60mph marker is by no means the benchmark by what great cars are measured against, that includes a range of factors.
But it is a clear indication of how fast a car will be, and for some motorheads, that’s all we need.
So, having seen record numbers of cars passing off the assembly line in 2025, here are the fastest 0-60mph of this year, and the ones to come in the near future.

New production cars with 0-60mph time under five seconds
Records have been smashed for production vehicles, thanks to the four motors of the Lucid Air Sapphire, while specials like the McMurtry Speirling have taken extreme measures in accelerating quicker than anything on the road.
But there’s now a number of new production cars released in 2025 that have serious rapid launches, and its not always those you’d expect.
While Tesla’s fleet has gone from strength to strength in this department thanks to the Model Y performance, even massive SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade IQ are setting sub-five second times.
Here’s a list of six new production cars released in 2025 with 0-60 times under the five second mark:
- Porsche Taycan – 2.3 seconds
- Ford Mustang GTD – 2.8 seconds
- Tesla Model 3 Performance – 2.9 seconds
- Maserati MCPURA – 2.9 seconds
- Polestar 4 (dual motor) – 3.7 seconds
- Cadillac Escalade IQ – 4.7 seconds

Refreshes and improvements to existing models come in to take the spoils this year, with the Model 3 and Taycan bettering their previous powertrains.
But the fun inclusions of the Cadillac Escalade IQ and Polestar 4 show that even the bigger EVs are capable of lightning takeoffs.
And these times are only going to get better.
Future cars that will blow these times out of the water
Usually, anything under five seconds is considered nippy.
But, the most ambitious production vehicle of all time, the elusive second-generation Tesla Roadster, has patented a number of devices to obliterate any existing records and complete the acceleration boost in under a second.
Other upcoming cars promise to be frighteningly fast too:
- Tesla Roadster – 1.0 seconds
- 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X – 2.0 seconds
- Rivian R2 – 3.0 seconds
- Zeekr 001 Sport – 3.8 seconds
- Dodge Charger SIXPACK – 3.9 seconds

The Rivian R2 is the big inclusion on this list, taking what the Escalade has already proven and continued the work with electrifying pace in the people carrier market.
Interestingly, while Chinese vehicles have been a revelation in 2025, only the upcoming Zeekr 001 Sport makes the cut here – although many Chinese EVs keep their figures under wraps until they are filed with the government.
