Britain’s fanciest train pulled a U-turn before its first luxury trip for billionaires and everyone was a bit disappointed.
The experience on Britain’s fanciest train was promised to be one of the height of luxury, a quintessential British holiday costing $75,000.
The eight carriage, 18-cabin train has a chef with a Michelin star, a butler service and even an onboard wellness suite.
For unspecified reasons, the luxury train experience was cancelled on the day it set off on its proposed journey from London Victoria to Penzance in Cornwall.

Britain’s fanciest train pulled a U-turn
The maiden voyage of Belmond’s Britannic Explorer, a renovated 1970s train designed to be the height of luxury, suffered from an embarrassing faux pas when it had to turn around instead of going to its intended destination.
It was meant to be an extremely glamorous affair, a three-day trip for billionaires who could take advantage of the quintessentially British experience through the lens of a gorgeous and luxurious train.
Instead of heading to its intended final destination of Penzance, the Britannic Explorer returned to its depot for unspecified ‘final refinements’ – luckily Belmond is refunding passengers who had tickets for the maiden voyage.

The whole situation derailed
The eight-carriage, 18-cabin train is genuinely the height of luxury, featuring a gourmet menu designed by a Michelin chef, as well as an on-board wellness suite and even a personal butler service.
The billionaire passengers never got to experience the delights of a five-star train ride or see any of Cornwall’s most beautiful sights.
Even though its maiden journey was cancelled, hopefully the 21st July luxury trip from London Victoria to Wales will still go ahead without a hitch for Britain’s fanciest train.
