This British guy drove a Dodge Challenger R/T in the UK to find out why Europeans don’t really drive American cars.
On the face of it, the Challenger looks great and is quite exciting to drive.
It’s not even that expensive.
However, if you live in Europe, there are a lot of things to consider.

The reason why Europeans don’t drive cars like the Dodge Challenger R/T
James, the guy behind the YouTube channel JayEmm on Cars, decided to take a Dodge Challenger R/T for a spin in the UK to find out why Europeans don’t drive American cars.
The first problem is availability.
Most American icons aren’t available in Europe unless you import them.
As a reminder, even the Ford Mustang only became officially available in Europe about 10 years ago.
This brings us on to the second problem.

Most American best-sellers are relatively cheap in the US, but they’re not cheap in Europe if you have to import them and pay all kinds of tariffs and taxes.
Then there’s a size issue.
Generally speaking, most European roads are way too small for these vehicles.
The real deal breaker
One of the major issues with American cars is that they tend to be quite thirsty.
And that’s in part because gas is a lot cheaper in the US than anywhere in Europe.
For reference, at the time of writing, gas is around $3 per gallon in the US, and $8.5 in the UK.
And bear in mind that $3 per gallon is not particularly cheap to begin with by US standards.

Fortunately for this YouTuber, this Dodge Challenger is a lot more fuel efficient than expected.
James explains that the Challenger can average around 23 Miles per Gallon (MPG), and even up to 40 MPG when cruising on the highway.
This is due to the Challenger’s ability to deactivate cylinders that aren’t necessary at that moment.
A really neat idea.
