People blown away by Bugatti Chiron with 109,235 miles but the reality is more disappointing than you'd expect

This Bugatti Chiron has covered over 100,000 miles, which sounds completely crazy for a hypercar of this caliber.

Most owners would be scared of putting 1,000 miles on the clock, let alone 100,000+ miles.

But there are two reasons why this Chiron is the exception.

Both of which will surprise you, but only for a fraction of a second.

Why this Bugatti Chiron has done so many miles

A seven-figure hypercar needs to undergo the same harsh testing as a five-figure sedan.

It needs to be able to survive in the Arctic in the same way it can survive in the Sahara.

Unfortunately, it also needs to be crash-tested, although this one obviously wasn’t one of those test subjects.

So the reason why this particular Chiron has done 175,797 kilometers – equivalent to 109,235 miles – is simple.

This is a test car.

Bugatti used this to stress-test the Chiron, which means it was driven everywhere by a wide variety of people, from test drivers to high-ranking Bugatti execs.

Which brings us to the second reason.

This Bugatti Chiron is also Mate Rimac’s personal daily driver

The Chiron was unveiled before the Bugatti-Rimac era, which means that Mate inherited this car.

But, as we all know, Rimac is a firm believer in driving his cars regularly.

He’s talked about this in so many of his videos.

When I say I’m dailying [my Rimac Nevera]: I take my stuff and go to the airport with it, I go hiking and leave the car at the base of the mountain, and come back with dirty shoes. [I] even [use it] to pick up the groceries,” he said in a video a while back.

“Why do I do this? First of all, I love driving these cars. But second, life is so short. And you wouldn’t believe how many people who own these cars are concerned about depreciation, and they don’t use them. And I think that’s sad.”

He clearly also uses it for Supercar Owners Circle events, as documented by Automotive Mike.

He has a couple of iconic BMWs and Volkswagens he drives regularly, which makes sense, but he makes a point of putting serious mileage on his Bugattis and Rimacs as well.

All cars are made to be driven, in his view, not parked in a vault and forgotten about.

He’s clearly putting his miles where his mouth is.

He’s not the only one

Most supercar and hypercar owners keep their cars in their garage and never drive it, but Mate Rimac isn’t the only exception.

There’s a Lamborghini Murciélago that famously clocked over 300,000 miles.

And the Murciélago is significantly harder to drive than both a Rimac or a Bugatti Chiron, mainly because it’s more difficult to see out of and more brutal and loud.

The other well-known example is the Ferrari Enzo with 100,000 miles on the clock and counting.

Based on articles that covered this, we know that this Enzo reached this particular milestone years ago.

We wouldn’t be surprised if the odometer now read 150,000 or even 200,000 miles.
