There are many people out there who debate about whether or not cars should have screen-filled interiors — but some automakers like Bugatti purposefully don’t put screens in their cars for a very specific reason.
It might seem like the German automaker doesn’t want to get with the times, but that’s not the case here.
With a minimalist approach, the automaker wants to provide simple luxury without too much complicated technology.
Well, outside of the mind-boggling technology that makes the cars go like they do.

The reason why Bugatti doesn’t put screens in its cars
A Bugatti supercar has an interior that is timeless and beautiful, with every part built with a purpose in mind.
So, building a driver-focused car is more of a priority for the automaker, rather than installing an infotainment center.
Even the design director for Bugatti, Achim Anscheidt, the man behind Bugatti Chiron is not a fan of screens in car interiors.
“Bugatti [is] … doing something that is much more appreciation for analog fascination,” Anscheidt told TheDrive.
“Like our mechanical watches, for example. So, I think there is a point to doing things different[ly] compared to the rest of the automotive field. Our main slogan is if it’s comparable, it no longer is Bugatti. It pays off as a designer to think about that,” he added.
Anscheidt understands what would happen if the operating systems running on the screens stopped working one day.
This also brings up a unique problem of old infotainment systems and outdated UIs.
It seems Bugatti doesn’t want to deal with any of that and wants to keep the focus on its driving aspect.
Screens in the latest Bugattis
Although the all-new Bugatti Tourbillon features a touchscreen, it is usually hidden inside the dashboard.
Going forward it is likely that the German automaker will include the touchscreen to its other cars.
However, they would still like to make driving the main focus of their design philosophy.
After all, that’s the main thing, isn’t it?
Nobody is buying a Bugatti to stare at a screen.
