A Chevy Corvette used to be the car you bought for Sunday drives and beach-town flexing.

Then the Z06 showed up with a supercharged V8 and a stick shift that turned it into a street-legal missile.

A decade later, that same 650hp thrill machine is lurking on the used market for less than you’d expect.

Less than a Toyota Tacoma, in fact.

The last old-school Corvette with insane power

Chevy’s 2015–2019 C7 Z06 was the final front-engine Z06, and it was an absolute weapon.

Under the hood is a 6.2L supercharged LT4 V8, throwing down 650hp and 650lb-ft of torque.

Order it with the seven-speed manual and you get the full analog experience – clutch pedal, gear lever, and a 0–60 sprint in three seconds flat.

It doesn’t just move in a straight line. Wide Michelin tires, massive Brembo brakes, and a vented carbon hood make it corner and stop like a track car that somehow slipped onto public roads.

Top speed is 185mph. Launch it hard, and 11 seconds later, you’re flying past 127mph.

And here’s the wildest part: that level of performance now costs pickup-truck money.

According to Hagerty, a solid 2015 Z06 coupe sells for around $62,700, with convertibles closer to $65,000. A Toyota Tacoma hovers in the same range.

One hauls cargo. The other hauls you into supercar territory.

Why this car is a future classic

This is the last Corvette that feels truly analog – big V8 up front, manual in the middle, rear tires doing all the hard work.

Nothing like it is ever coming back, and collectors know it.

And the value is ridiculous.

A 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 with similar performance will run you about $119,000 today. The rarer C7 ZR1 pushes $150,000 and beyond.

Meanwhile, the Z06 gives you all the drama – the noise, the speed, the sense of theatrics – for half that.

If you’ve been dreaming of an affordable old-school American supercar that you can really drive, this is it.

It’s proof that sometimes, insanity is the smarter buy.
