This BYD Yangwang U8 has taken on an extremely difficult off-road challenge in Wuhan.

Tackling a muddy steep hill isn’t ideal driving conditions for any car, but this U8 gave it a good go.

Onlookers gathered to watch as the dramatic scenes unfolded, caking the car’s tires in mud.

But that wasn’t what left some viewers feeling concerned.

How the BYD Yangwang U8 took on a muddy slope

Footage of the Yangwang’s remarkable effort was shared online by Chinese singer Wang Chengfo.

And from the get-go, it looked like an uphill battle – no pun intended.

Mud sprayed out of the back and, at one point, the U8 veered onto one side.

It was a noisy display and came with a lot of white smoke.

And we mean a lot.

At times, there was so much smoke that the U8 could barely be seen by onlookers.

“The pot is boiling and it’s smoking,” one bystander said.

It looked as if this car would be no match for the muddy trail that stood against it.

Uneven terrain can be a nightmare for any car, like this Tesla which found itself stranded at 10,000ft in Utah’s snowy mountains.

But that’s nothing compared to the predicament that this Hyundai found itself in up on the Honeymoon Trail.

Would the U8 share the same fate as these unfortunate cars and require rescuing?

Overcoming the odds or going up in smoke?

When it looked like the U8 wouldn’t be strong enough, it got a sudden burst of energy and sped up the first part of the trail, leaving a ton of white smoke behind it.

White smoke is not something you want to see coming out of your car – just ask this guy who got a 1971 Rolls-Royce as his first daily driver.

As noted by Kwik Fit, white smoke coming out of a car usually indicates that the coolant is leaking into the engine system.

Should this get excessive, it could lead to a blown gasket.

But the U8 prevailed and made it to the top, where the driver was greeted with a hero’s welcome.

After watching that incredible display, we reckon he deserved it, too.

Uphill drives are never easy, but doing that in the mud? Super impressive by anyone’s estimate.

Now, their next challenge should be this haunted hill in California when it’s covered in mud.
