These guys from California needed to call professional recovery experts when they accidentally broke a $1.2 million camper.
The off-road camper in question is called the Ascender by 27 North, built on a Ford F-550 Super Duty chassis.
Unfortunately, it got into a slight accident while climbing up a hill.
And what started as a simple camping trip soon turned into a nightmare.

Breaking a $1.2 million camper
The folks over at the Donut Media YouTube channel got their hands on the $1.2 million camper back in 2023.
And the first thing they did was take it for an off-road camping trip to really test its capabilities.
Their first impression?
“This feels like you’re riding an elephant. Really heavy, steering is like kind of a suggestion,” they said.
This wasn’t the group’s first rodeo with off-road vehicles either.
Just last year, they modified the cheapest truck in the world with a lift kit for off-roading, so they know what they are doing.
Or at least, it seemed that way until disaster struck.
The accident
To truly test the $1.2 million camper, they took it for a steep hill climb.
One said they noticed a relative lack of weight up front, while another said it seemed as if the Ascender “could roll over” at any second.
They managed to reach the top but decided to switch drivers and try it again.
This time, the car appeared to hit an uneven slope which broke the driveshaft, leaving the vehicle immobile right in the middle of a steep hill.
Fortunately, they were able to call the rescue experts from Matt’s Off-Road Recovery, who has towed multiple vehicles no one else could.
The recovery experts soon got to work and made a new makeshift driveshaft by using the old one.
Once the camper was repaired, it could finally move under its own power to get out of the hill.
