A first responder rescue team working during the California wildfires has shared the unexpected way in which donated Tesla Cybertrucks helped.
Tesla donated several Cybertrucks to help out with rescue and recovery efforts.
A rescue team that utilized the Cybertruck has revealed how they come in very useful, but possibly not in the way you’d expect.
The team reached out to Tesla to thank the EV maker, saying the trucks have been ‘vital’ to its operations.

The Tesla Cybertrucks helped in an unexpected way
At least 28 people have died across the Los Angeles region following the devasting wildfires.
Tens of thousands of residents were forced to evacuate their homes, and first responders and emergency service personnel worked around the clock to tackle the fires.
Amongst them was the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team, which recently took to Instagram to personally thank Tesla for their Cybertruck donation.
While the trucks are well-known for being practically indestructible, it was actually their batteries that were used to help out.
“A donation of Cybertrucks from @teslamotors to be utilized as battery banks at the station until power is restored to the station,” the post read.
“This will greatly help the team to power radios, computers, and lights as we work into the dark.”
The Tesla Cybertruck comes with a handy Powershare feature, which allows it to charge another electric vehicle, or even power a home for up to three days.
Impressive stuff, right?
The donated trucks had been ‘vital’ in keeping things running
In a follow-up post, Altadena Mountain Rescue Team said the donation of Tesla Cybertrucks had been ‘vital’ to keep things up and running.
“To clarify some comments and questions that have been presented, this is a donation of services, there is no expectation that these will be retained, but instead will be returned when no longer needed,” the team wrote.
“That said, they have been vital to our operations in providing necessary power to our HQ and Command Post.”
The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team aren’t the only ones who have been quick to heap praise on Tesla during the wildfires.
A Tesla Model Y owner said his EV ‘literally’ saved his life, thanks to its Bioweapon Defense Mode.
“When biodefense mode actually comes in handy for the Palisades Fire in LA. This Tesla is literally saving my life. Never buying another brand ever again,” he wrote in a post on X.
