A Californian man took his 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning EV on a huge 4,536-mile road trip, and recently shared how it performed on that adventure.

Posting on Reddit, user Tbowd was finding out just how good the electric pickup truck was, and how its battery performed over such a long trip.

The journey took the truck through the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia, Montana, and Wyoming.

It looked like a mammoth journey, but it appears that the Ford pickup truck was up to the task, which is great news for the Blue Oval.

How far the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning had to travel

The F-150 Lightning EV had to travel up through Canada and back, across 4,536 miles that took four weeks.

The truck in question was the Lariat ER trim, and in total, there were 25 fast charger stops for the truck.

As a family of five, Tbowd’s truck had a lot of luggage to carry.

Luckily, not only can the truck tow a lot, but it can carry a lot, too.

The Ford handled all of the luggage with ease during the road trip.

There are several interesting things to note about the journey.

First of all, the family was able to time recharging stops with when they wanted to eat, making life easier.

Secondly, they found plenty of places to stay overnight that allowed the truck to charge as they slept.

If there was no charger at the hotel or campsite, a fast charger was never far away.

The extra range model of the pickup truck helped

One thing the owner noted was that he had the longer-range version of the truck with the latest software.

Had it been the standard range, he would not have attempted the trip.

Having the longer range version meant they could drive up to the less efficient speed limits of 80mph without a big range hit.

Another successful roadtrip story; 4500 miles up through Canada and back. 2023 Lariat ER.

Tbowd also went on to say how happy he and his family were with the truck during their trip.

It was comfortable for all of them, the range was excellent, and it didn’t put a single foot wrong.

They even managed to get a Starlink Mini installed for the more rural locations, and it fitted on the truck’s dashboard.

Some people have been wary of the electric F-150 Lightning.

But here, it looks like the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning has won some major plaudits after this road trip.
