This adventure-loving Canadian has kitted out a golf cart with special train track wheels, and – while enjoying the rails of New Zealand – he stumbled upon a mysterious abandoned car begging to be restored.

Golf carts are quite a fun ride when whipping around eighteen holes.

But seldom do they come off the course.

Still, one guy has turned his own buggy into a train, and his journey on four wheels through New Zealand has created more wonders than he could have imagined.

Canadian vlogger turns a golf cart into a train in New Zealand

Given their gimmicky joyfulness, many people enjoy giving golf carts a new lease of life, such as this modded road-legal Camaro buggy in California.

But in a new tale, YouTube vlogger and adventurist DownieLive has turned his golf cart into a train, replacing the usual rubber tires with metal plate wheels, primed for a journey across New Zealand’s colorful railways.

The documented journey saw the duo of men ride through 90 bridges and 20 tunnels on these derelict tracks. With pit stops for morning tea, home-baked snacks,

“It feels like an amusement park ride,” DownieLive said, just before they encountered a typical wildlife encounter with a sheep on the tracks.

Initially, the tracks were used for coal transportation, but have been derelict for years, apart from some likeminded tourist rides.

Countryside, peace, and an abandoned Mini Cooper

While most of the journey was spent enjoying the serenity of the New Zealand countryside and enjoying mouthwatering treats, the pair also came across an abandoned car primed for a restoration build.

Along the tracks, they bumped into this abandoned Mini Cooper, which had been mostly claimed by nature.

While the Mini Countryman might well be going off-road, the Cooper was certainly meant for flatter roads than the New Zealand countryside has.

But it could make a good restoration train…

“Imagine restoring that and putting train wheels on it,” they joked.

As for the Golf Cart, well, it might be the best use of a buggy that we’ve ever seen, although this jet-powered Amish carriage with a Boeing gas turbine comes close.

The journey ended with more tranquil shots of the mountains, as the golf cart proved to be the perfect vehicle for this Canadian man’s once-in-a-lifetime trip.
