Would you sell your beloved 1-in-26 1972 Dodge Charger to pay for a house?
This Canadian man did – and he felt like a piece of his soul left with it.
It is a story that is as commendable and respectable as it is sad.
But 30 years later, this story took a massively heart-warming turn.

Canadian man sells 1972 Dodge Charger to fund a house
Gilles Leduc is the Canadian man whose story lies at the heart of today’s story.
30 years ago, he sold a very special car that he called his own.
The car in question was a 1-of-26 1972 Dodge Charger with a 440 Magnum 4-speed.
Max Moskal is the man who runs the Subdivision Auto YouTube channel.
He took the story personally, and decided to track down this 1972 Dodge Charger.
Unfortunately, his success in tracking the car down came with a gut punch:

Gilles’ old Dodge Charger was just one of 26 built in Canada – meaning it is now far too expensive to get back.
The Canadian man was reunited with the car, but it was very much a bittersweet experience.
It was like being brought back to his past, but not being able to bring it back home with him.
But that is only the first half of this story – because the true story kicks off here.
Story heads to Northern Ontario – and ends amazingly
The car community rallied around Gilles’ story – and messages began pouring in.
In Northern Ontario, someone got in touch with Max following the original video.
They pointed Max to a garage where a Dodge Coronet 500 was waiting.
Sadly, the owner (Dan) encountered respiratory illness during the last year.
But Dan had dedicated the last decade to restoring this Coronet 500.
Trust us – this is one of the best-condition Dodge Coronet 500 examples you will ever see.
It even includes the numbers-matching 383cu-in powerplant to boot.
Gilles traveled to meet Dan in Northern Ontario – and was elated when he saw the car.
It is everything that he had dreamed of – especially in such good condition.
Unfortunately, the guys ran the risk of running into the same issue – price.
When Dan floats a figure of $24,000 CAD, Gilles was quickly deflated, because the car was out of his price range.
But then, Dan said some hope-raising words:
“Maybe not.”
This story comes with a truly heart-warming end, as Gilles is finally reunited with a Mopar motor.
It just goes to show how much of a community the car community truly is.
