This is the Cadillac InnerSpace concept and it looks absolutely fantastic.
It is also further proof that Cadillac is finally back on track with awesome stuff.
Let’s start with the exterior because there’s so much to unpack here.
Visually, it looks like a spaceship.
It’s sleek, low and super slender – almost like a bullet.
CHECK THIS OUT!
The wheels are exaggeratedly large in proportion to the body but this was done on purpose.
Normally, electric cars are fitted with closed-off wheels to improve the vehicle’s aerodynamics.
The wheels on this one are slightly different, though.
You’ve got windmill-shaped spokes and honeycomb design between the 7 spokes.
And the wheels are actually made using soy beans oil and rice husk silica.
Both the rear and front section feature prominent, slightly pointy extremities.
The idea is to make the car look like it was shaped by the wind.
The roof, for example, is emphatically curved.
And the best part? The roof opens but it leaves the windscreen behind.
It truly is spectacular to behold.
This being an autonomous car, the interior is designed like a living room.
There are no pedals and there is no steering wheel.
However, what you do have is a curved panoramic screen in front of you.
It actually wraps around the doors, too.
Among other things, it can be used to relay a 3D, digitized version of the road ahead.
And then we have to talk about the seats.
They turn outwards to welcome you.
It makes it so much easier to get in and out of the car.
So what about speed, horsepower and torque?
Well, the company is keeping details under wraps.
Chiefly, we suspect, because this car isn’t about performance – it’s all about style and comfort.
The InnerSpace is designed to take you from A to B like a private jet for the road.
Cadillac, we love this, please turn it into a production vehicle ASAP.
