A one-of-six Chevrolet Corvette C8.R with an incredible racing past has gone up for sale in Michigan, and it comes with a hefty price tag.

The C8.R made its competitive debut in 2020 at the 24 Hours of Daytona and continued racing until 2023.

Throughout their racing lives, the six Corvette C8.Rs earned a whopping 22 wins and 50 podium finishes across 57 races.

And now you can get your hands on Corvette C8.R-005.

The Chevrolet Corvette C8.R is a real piece of racing history

The Chevrolet Corvette C8.R is built around the mid-engined C8 generation ‘Vette and served as a replacement for the Corvette C7.R.

Corvette Racing made just six examples, including the C8.R-005, which is currently up for sale with Hemmings.

This particular model competed in 11 races during the 2023 IMSA Sports Car Championship and achieved two wins and six podium finishes.

It also made two starts in the Le Mans, firstly in 2021, where it finished in sixth place, and then again the following year.

After it finished its final race, the C8.R-005 was given a full service and restoration, including an overhaul of its gearbox and suspension system and a brake service, so it’s ready for its new owner.

It is currently being held at the Pratt Miller facility in Michigan, and the lucky new owner of the car will have ‘access to genuine parts and technical expertise’ from the facility.

The fully-restored racer is powered by a 5.5-liter, flat plane crank, naturally aspirated V8 that can produce up to 500 horsepower and 480lb-ft of torque.

It weighs 2,745lbs, making it a fair bit lighter than the 2025 ZR1, which weighs in at 3,670lbs.

And if all of that power isn’t enough to turn heads, then the paintwork will probably do the trick, because the car is finished in bright yellow, with Corvette Racing livery.

The car comes with a steep asking price

It goes without saying that certified former championship-winning race cars don’t come cheap.

And that’s certainly the case for the Chevrolet Corvette C8.R.

It’s currently listed on Hemmings with an asking price of $1.5 million.

At the time of writing, the car hadn’t attracted any bids, but we reckon that it won’t be long before someone snaps up this genuine piece of racing history.
