California man nearly burns his Chevrolet Camaro after trying a viral trend and completely failing

A California man very nearly set his Chevrolet Camaro on fire after attempting to recreate a dangerous viral burnout trend.

The stunt involved lighting a trail of oil on the ground before performing a burnout alongside the flames.

But things quickly got out of control as the fire spread toward the muscle car.

The dramatic near miss has since left viewers stunned and sparked criticism online.

Car enthusiasts have been using burnouts to create clouds of tire smoke for decades, but social media has inspired increasingly elaborate versions of the classic stunt, all for viral videos.

In this case, the driver laid a long trail of oil across a concrete lot before setting it alight.

For a brief moment, it looked as though the muscle car was about to catch fire.

The driver quickly accelerated away from the flames before they could engulf the vehicle, while people nearby rushed in to put the fire out.

Judging by the footage, the Camaro escaped without any obvious major damage, although it was an incredibly close call.

His complete fail was almost an expensive lesson

The video has attracted plenty of attention online, with many viewers criticizing the decision to mix burnouts with open flames.

While burnouts are already tough on tires and brakes, introducing flammable liquids dramatically raises the stakes.

Many commenters pointed out that the outcome could have been far worse if the fire had reached the car’s fuel system, tires, or other combustible components, with one saying: “The difference between Fast & Furious and Daft & Curious.”

Others questioned why anyone would risk destroying a customized Chevrolet Camaro for the sake of a few seconds of viral footage, with someone saying: “Don’t ever do that again.”

Fortunately, the driver managed to escape before the flames could fully surround the car, preventing what could have been a very expensive disaster.
