A remarkable Chevrolet C1 Corvette has come up for sale with no reserve, and the auction starts at just $1.

The C1 in question is a 1961 model, and it’s for sale on eBay, having spent nearly 50 years with the same owner.

The listing states that the car needs some restoration work but, externally at least, it looks fantastic, and it’s clear the auto was loved and cared for over the decades.

The C1 is the car that started the Corvette brand we know and love today, a range that now includes models such as the ZR1 in the above video.

The owner has had this Corvette for 46 years

As the eBay listing says, this beautiful car has been with its current owner for 46 years.

It’s the first time the Chevy has been on the market in that time, and images show it in excellent condition.

However, the Corvette does need some mechanical work.

The seller in question, arminhott87, says that the doesn’t run, but it rolls and steers, so loading it isn’t an issue.

Rust can often be a concern with classics like this.

Yet, given its well-cared-for condition, that doesn’t apply to this particular Chevy.

It’s also quite a rare model, as it has a hardtop – only half of 1961 Corvette owners bought that version.

The hardtop was an option that cost an extra $236 back then.

The C1 is listed with no reserve

As the listing also states, the Corvette is currently available with no reserve.

It was never going to sell at the $1 starting price, and as you would expect, demand has been high.

At the time of writing, the Chevy had 16 bids, with the total standing at just $10,000.

Impressively, the Corvette hasn’t been listed for sale for that long, highlighting the demand for early versions of the gorgeous sports car.

Whoever wins the auction will get a fantastic, classic addition to their collection.

The interior and exterior both look great.

So it looks like the majority of the restoration work will be on the mechanical side.

As of February 28th, 2025, the Chevrolet had just under a week left before the auction concludes.

Which means someone is about to become a very happy eBay auction winner.
