This Chinese EV isn’t a household name yet, but costing under $15,000 and with over 300-mile range and the ability to swap batteries in 99 seconds – it soon will be.
The Aion UT Super is the brainchild of Chinese battery-maker CATL, working alongside carmaker GAC Group and online retailer JD.com.
This version of the Aion UT is powered by CATL’s Choco-SEB battery packs, introduced last year.
And if the tech perks weren’t enough to sway you, this car will be incredibly affordable.

Taking a closer look at this Chinese EV that’s flown under the radar
We’ve been hearing an awful lot about Chinese EVs in recent years.
Admittedly, it’s not clear how many of these brands will be with us for the long run, as one expert predicted only 15 brands will survive to 2030.

BYD alone has generated enough headlines to last a lifetime, whether it’s news of them overtaking Tesla in Europe or sales skyrocketing in the UK.
But there are other brands in the mix too, like the Geely Geome Xingyuan and the Zeekr 001.
Entering the ring of overlooked EVs is the Aion UT Super, touted as the EV with a battery pack that can be swapped out in 99 seconds.
Said battery pack is a 54.036kWh pack, giving the car a driving range of 310 miles.

And if you don’t fancy swapping out your battery pack, that’s no bother either.
A fast charge from 30 percent to 80 percent will only take you 26 minutes.
How cheap will the Aion UT Super be?
And it’s not on the charging front that this car impresses.
It’ll be the first vehicle to include GAC’s Huawei-powered ‘Cloud Vehicle’ system, autonews reported.
Through this, the drivers will have access to over 20,000 in-car apps, as well as games and high-definition video streaming.
It’s an infotainment system with a boost.

All of that sounds great, but how much would this car cost?
Well, in its native China, this car is expected to cost between 100,000 yuan and 120,000 yuan.
In American money, that’s between $14,000 and $16,800.
That’s an exceptionally good price.
However, whether Americans will get the chance to buy this car anytime soon remains to be seen.
Whether or not Chinese cars should be in the American market remains a fraught issue, even though the country’s car makers believe they will arrive at some point.
