Fabled car expert and journalist Chris Harris has gotten hands-on with a bespoke 24-carat gold Aston Martin Valkyrie, before taking the supercar series for a rare test.

What are supercars for, if they’re not for flexing on a coffee run? Well, racing, of course, but we’ll get to that later.

This is no ordinary supercar that we’re on about, though, as a one-off upgrade package makes it stand alone as the only gold-plated right-hand-drive Valkyrie out there.

But in a bid to ensure it can sell on, without ‘thrashing’ it, the esteemed car expert showed it off before heading for a cheeky flat white.

Chris Harris takes a gold-leaf Aston Martin Valyrie for a coffee

In this case, Chris Harris quenched his thirst and whetted his motorhead appetite in one go by revealing a 24-carat gold-plated Aston Martin Valkyrie to his fans.

The car, set to go up for sale on with RM Sotheby’s, is the bespoke ‘Anemos’ model, which means ‘Wind’ in Greek and is a tribute to the series’ Nordic mythological past.

The Anemos upgrade package is rumored to be valued at $600,000 and features a front splitter, hood, glass canopy trim, and rear diffuser trim, all accented with pure gold leaf print.

But the real beauty is in the kneaded bodywork, where 24-carat speckles have been baked in with a grandma’s love.

Taking to a new YouTube video on the RM Sotherby channel, Harris took another Aston Martin to the shops just to check out its road capabilities and show how much attention it gets in one single coffee errand through a quaint British village.

Even before he got out of the car, Harris was crowded by two in-awe fans, as he struggled to get his flat white in stealth.

“Maybe, just maybe, there’s not enough silliness out there at the moment. … The idea of going out in your quasi lemon car to just pick up a flat white, it’s a cool thing,” Harris said, praising how the car could handle the streets.

But it wasn’t long before the warm coffee had settled, and it was time to go racing.

Key Features: Aston Martin Valkyrie

Top Speed: 250 mph
0–62 mph: 2.5 seconds

Starting Price: $3,000,000

Back home, a real track test

Again, the gold-plated Anemos was left on display for this test, but it was time to put the Aston Martin Valkyrie on the track.

With his foot to the floor, the driving expert and former Top Gear presenter was astonished by the ‘monster’.

“So, what’s it like on a circuit? Well, allow my facial expression to give you a clue. It’s a monster,” he said.

“I hadn’t really appreciated how good the suspension is… it gives it this very, very powerful stable suspension platform. So even at high speed and high load, it can support an individual corner when you want it to.”

The Valkyrie will be going to auction on November 1, where the car will be hoping to get at least some track action.

Hopefully the new owner likes it a bit more than Daniel Riccardo did…
