At the 2025 New York Auto Show, Porsche purists and curious newcomers alike were treated to something unexpected.
Two of the most jaw-dropping 911s on display weren’t built by Porsche itself, but by visionary independent builders.
Tedson Motors and Sacrilege Motors reimagined the iconic 911 in radically different ways – one staying loyal to air-cooled tradition, the other charging ahead with electric power.
Together, they stole the spotlight and sparked new conversations about the future of restomods and performance.

Tedson Motors: Air-cooled Porsche nostalgia
YouTuber Speed Racer Joe shared his visit to the 2025 New York Auto Show, where two of the most talked-about Porsche 911 restomods stole the spotlight.
In case you’re not familiar with the term, a restomod is a car – usually classic or vintage – that has been restored to original or near original condition and modified with modern components.
First up, Croatia-based Tedson Motors unveiled its stunning ‘Daydream’: a reborn air-cooled 964/993 hybrid that perfectly blends old-school charm with modern performance.

Built on a classic 964 chassis, the Daydream features evolved styling; think wider wheel arches, updated bumpers, and contemporary lights, while preserving the iconic 911 silhouette.

Under the hood, the 3.6-liter flat‑six has been bored out to a 4.0-liter powerhouse, paired with electric flywheel KERS tech, and a hybrid system on the 993 variant.
The result is a head‑turning 570 HP that can go 0-62MPH in less than 3 seconds.
Sacrilege Motors: Electric revolution
On the opposite side of the spectrum sat Sacrilege Motors’ ‘Enigma’ EV conversion of a classic 911.

The cabin and bodywork remain faithful to the 1974-1994 era, complete with analog gauges and unmistakable 911 curves.
However, the air‑cooled roar has been swapped for a silent, electrified 500HP setup.
A 62KWH battery delivers blistering acceleration to 60MPH in record time, all without a gearbox.
This build retains the visceral connection of a classic Porsche while delivering zero-emission performance.

While this electric conversion is creative, it’s not unique, as a UK company recently did the same thing to an air-cooled Porsche 911.
Neither car can be considered factory-fresh, but perhaps that’s why they felt so electrifying.
Both builds prove that even if you clock a million miles on your Porsche 911, it can be restored to its former glory. And perhaps even surpass it.
Whether you lean toward raw air‑cooled nostalgia or silent EV speed, you know that there’s a Porsche 911 for you out there somewhere.
