The Corvette is an icon in US car history, and this 1958 model was left to fend for itself for over three decades in the Golden State of California.

Spotted for sale online, the vintage two-door convertible could be the perfect restoration project for a gearhead with heaps of time on their hands.

The first-generation Corvette comes complete with original parts and a chassis that appears to be in decent condition.

However, the Chevrolet relic does come with a hefty price tag attached.

This Corvette could be the backyard find of a lifetime

The Corvette is an age-old classic, instantly recognizable from its unique exterior, but forget the flashy new ZR1s that you often see today, the model’s journey began way back in the ’50s.

The first generation of Corvette lasted from 1953 and lasted until 1962, with a further seven generations following, all the way up until the C8, which went into production in 2020, according to Biggers Chevrolet.

Now, though, we’re throwing back to the C1 production line with this 1958 model, which has appeared on Facebook Marketplace.

Listed by its owner, they described it as ‘their find of a lifetime’, but it came with a twist.

You see, this Corvette was left abandoned for 35 years before the current owner came into possession of the car, and hasn’t actually changed hands in 45 years.

The car is said to have driven 42,325 miles on its automatic transmission, but that’s not the winning factor for us.

It will need some TLC from its new owner to make it shiny again

As you can imagine, due to the age of the car, the once yellow shell isn’t exactly in tip-top condition, but is still in good shape for its age.

The car is described as having a non-matching engine and transmission, but does come complete with a black soft top with ‘fair condition’ framework.

According to the seller, the chassis isn’t rusty for how it was stored – what more could you want?

For any of you looking to actually buy this vintage Corvette, you have a limited time frame.

The seller explained that even though he is in no rush and will get it running in the spring, the car will actually only be up for sale for two weeks.

The asking price currently sits at $33,999, but would you take a chance?
