A Bespoke Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X has just sold at Barrett-Jackson for $2,600,000.
But the proceeds went to a very different effort.
The proceeds of the auction were earmarked to be going to charity.
And every dollar of the $2,600,000 price went to veterans and first reponders.

Corvette ZR1X smashes it again – on the auction block
The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X might just be the new standard in American supercar engineering.
It has been breaking records left-and-right, setting new standards across the board.
Just last year, it knocked the Ford Mustang GTD off its perch as the fastest American car ever to lap the Nurburgring in Germany.
It’s 6:49.275s time sent shockwaves across the wider supercar world.
As if that wasn’t enough, the Corvette ZR1X then started off 2026 by breaking another record.

It set records on the drag strip for 0-60s times, obliterating cars costing ten times as much.
When you factor of all this in, excitement for the production units becomes a whole lot more understandable.
And the first-ever production ZR1X just went under the hammer this past weekend.
It is little surprise, in fact, that the first-ever Corvette ZR1X sold for an absolute fortune.
By the time the hammer went down at Barrett-Jackson, the car had fetched $2,600,000.

Funds go towards veterans and first responders
But the sale price isn’t even the most amazing part of this story.
What is even more incredible is what the money has been earmarked for.
The $2,600,000 sum is set to go towards the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
In case you were wondering, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation does incredible work.

The organization provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children.
Scott Bell, vice president of Global Chevrolet, commented on the sale.
“To honor those who serve, Chevrolet created a 1-of-1 edition of America’s quickest production car, the Corvette ZR1X,” Bell said.
“We’re proud to know the winning bid will go directly to supporting first responders and veterans in need across the United States through the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.”
Supercar produces incredible numbers
So who now owns the first-ever production Corvette ZR1X?
The winning bid went to Rick Hendrick, chairman and CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group and owner of Hendrick Motorsports.
This particular Corvette ZR1X is far from any usual C8-generation Corvette.
For one thing, it features a hand-painted Dark Satin Steel finish complemented by blue details, including the brake calipers and Carbon Aero rear wing.
The paintwork was completed by trained experts at the General Motors Design Fabrication shop.

And the fun only continues with the performance figures.
Being the ZR1X, this one-of-one C8 has a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and an electric drive unit, combining for 1,250 horsepower.
It is this hybrid powerplant offering that has allowed it to smash everything in sight.
When production comes, each unit is expected to cost around the $218,000 mark.
