Corvette ZR1X with 1,250hp is such a monster even three Tesla Model S Plaids couldn't beat it on a 1/4 mile

We may have found a new unbeatable car in a drag race, and it’s not a Tesla or any other electric car; it’s this Chevy Corvette ZR1X.

With over 1,250 horsepower at its disposal, the Corvette was able to beat a few Teslas.

All three Teslas were Model S Plaids, but it still didn’t work.

And that’s largely due to a secret ace up the Corvette’s sleeve.

What makes this Corvette unbeatable

YouTuber Drag Times pitted a Chevy Corvette ZR1X against a Tesla Model S Plaid at the TX2K drag racing event in Texas.

The goal of the test was to see whether the ZR1X’s hybrid AWD system and massive power – 1,250 horsepower – could outperform the Tesla Plaid.

And it did.

Tesla lost big time on this occasion, and not for lack of trying.

The seemingly unbeatable Model S Plaid lost five races in total.

They actually tried it with three different Plaids but to no avail.

All three Teslas couldn’t do better than nine seconds, while the Corvette stayed under the nine-second mark with every attempt.

The reason why the Chevy won

In a drag race, the first few yards are crucial.

If the car is too slow off the line, you often don’t have enough road to catch up to whatever’s ahead of you.

Electric cars are nearly unbeatable at that, and even though really fast gas cars do eventually catch up, it’s usually too late.

Most drag races use the traditional quarter-mile strip.

If they did a mile or two-mile run, maybe the gas car would still win, but that’s not how drag races work, in general.

But this Chevy still managed to win because it combines the best of both worlds.

It has enormous amounts of horsepower, but also a lot of torque thanks to its twin-turbochargers and electric motor.

Yep, this monster was a hybrid.

Some would call it a cheat code.
