In the past few days, the esteemed footballer has achieved an unprecedented milestone.

He’s become the first first person ever to hit 600 million followers on the Meta-owned platform.

Impressive stuff, considering he only hit the noteworthy 500-million followers landmark in November 2022.

Just to put that into perspective, if Ronaldo was to form a country with his follower count, it would be the third most populous place in the world, sitting just below China and India.

Ronaldo even has more followers than the whole population of the European Union.

The milestone means he’s well clear of the next competitor, who he rivals in the real world, too.

Cristiano Ronaldo has – and always will be – compared to Lionel Messi in terms of his talents in the football world.

But, when it comes to Instagram, the Portuguese athlete’s miles ahead of his Argentinian counterpart’s 482 million followers.

That being said, Messi is the one who reigns supreme when you look at who has the most-liked photograph on the social media app.

When Messi won the 2022 FIFA World Cup, he posted several photos of himself and his Argentinian teammates.

That collection of photos garnered a whopping 75.7 million double taps.

Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t even have the second most-liked picture, as that spot’s held by Chris Godfrey’s photo of an egg (yes, an egg!).

There’s no denying these two superstars have the world’s attention, as they continually get incredible engagement from their followers.

They even combined forces in an advert for Louis Vuitton, which got a combined 74 million likes.

How long will it be before Cristiano Ronaldo reaches 700 million Instagram followers?
