Cristiano Ronaldo says his most expensive purchase cost him $75,000,000 but he had to buy it ‘out of necessity’.

When you’re a multibillionaire soccer player like Ronaldo, you get used to a certain type of lifestyle.

He’s reportedly earning $280 million a year playing for Saudi Arabian team Al Nassr, so it’s fair to say the 40-year-old sporting legend has the funds for the high life.

But he’s insisted that his most expensive purchase wasn’t a splurge or an indulgence, but a total necessity.

The $75,000,000 purchase that Cristiano Ronaldo said was a ‘necessity’

In an interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo said that he didn’t care about money that much anymore.

“When you reach some level, the money doesn’t matter anymore, in my opinion. But it’s always good to have more because we are human beings,” he said.

Whilst the average person’s jaw would probably hit the ground if they looked at Ronaldo’s bank account, the soccer star said he didn’t spend all that much money.

“I don’t spend money. For example, I don’t go shopping. If I go anywhere, I can buy whatever I want, but I don’t need that anymore,” he explained.

However, that explanation might not ring entirely true once one recalls that he spent $75,000,000 on a Gulfstream private jet.

The large business jet has two Rolls-Royce BR725 engines, which can propel it to a top speed of 611mph.

And it’s completely customized inside.

Inside is a telephone, electric oven, microwave, refrigerator, onboard Wi-Fi, and, of course, top-of-the-line furnishings.

All sounds pretty fancy, right?

Well, Ronaldo said it wasn’t a luxury purchase, but something that he needed to buy.

“I buy [a plane] because I need it, because I’m not a normal person. I cannot be in airports. I buy because of that,” he told Piers Morgan.

That does make sense, to be fair.

Can you imagine the scenes if Cristiano Ronaldo showed up in the security queue at an standard airport?

What else does he spend his millions on?

When he’s not in the air, Ronaldo enjoys spending time with his second-to-none supercar collection.

In fact, he admitted that he has so many that he doesn’t even know the exact figure.

Let’s help him count a few of them, shall we?

His full collection is valued at over $20 million, and contains a 1-of-10 Bugatti Centodieci.

Other gems in his supercar crown include a Ferrari F12 TDF, a McLaren Senna, and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

In addition to buying his own cars, he’s also received some as gifts – like this Rolls-Royce Dawn that his partner Georgina Rodriguez got him for Christmas.

That sounds like a very merry Christmas indeed.
