A DeLorean owner has shared the stunned responses he got from a group of Gen Z car lovers when he arrived at a car meet in his iconic vehicle.
Launched by the DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) in 1981, the DeLorean – or DMC-12 as it was also known – was an eye-catching motor.
Its love-it-or-hate-it futuristic design included gullwing doors and brushed stainless-steel outer body panels.
But two years after it was launched, DMC shuttered production with only around 9,500 units ever made.

The DeLorean garnered some very interesting reactions
Although the final DeLorean rolled off the production line all the way back in 1983, the car continues to have a strong following.
Despite their age, there are still thought to be around 6,500 of them on the road.

Of course, Gen Xers and Millennials will know the classic car for its appearance in the 1985 flick Back to the Future, and its sequels.
But it seems the younger generation is less familiar with the movie, if their reactions to this DeLorean at a car meet are anything to go by.
In a clip shared on the DeLorean Destiny YouTube channel, the DeLorean owner can be seen arriving at a car meet while a gaggle of Gen Z car enthusiasts watched on.
Most of them had shocked looks on their faces – with their jaws dropped – and rushed to get a quick snap of the vehicle with their phones.
At one point, one of them can be heard saying that they’ve ‘never seen one of these’ as the car inched past.
The iconic car made a 2020s comeback
While the car might not be recognizable to your average Gen Z, it seems that they could be getting their very own version.
More than 40 years after it was originally launched, the all-electric DeLorean Alpha 5 was unveiled.
The cool concept car has a top speed of 249 km/h (155 mph) and can go 0-100 km/h / 0-62 mph in just over three seconds.
It has a range of 482 kilometers (300 miles).
And, in keeping with the original, it has gullwing doors, but this time around they can be opened with the swipe of your hand. How cool is that?
As yet, the DeLorean Alpha 5 hasn’t become a production vehicle, but DMC has previously suggested 9,531 new models could be made – one more than the original version.
