World's most expensive superyacht is worth $800M and took 52 months to build in full

The world’s most expensive superyacht is an absolute giant of the seas, carrying a staggering $800 million price tag and enough luxury features to rival a five-star resort.

Named Dilbar, the enormous vessel took just 52 months to complete, an astonishing feat considering its sheer size and complexity.

When it was delivered in 2016, it immediately earned a place in yachting history thanks to its record-breaking dimensions and jaw-dropping interior volume.

And once you take a closer look at what is packed onboard, it’s easy to see where all that money went.

The world’s most expensive superyacht is worth $800M

Built by German shipyard Lürssen, Dilbar stretches an incredible 156m (512ft) from bow to stern and remains the largest motor superyacht in the world by internal volume, like gross tonnage.

The expensive superyacht is so big that it offers more than 3,800 square meters of living space and can accommodate dozens of guests alongside a huge crew to keep everything running smoothly.

Its exterior was designed by renowned yacht designer Espen Øino, while the lavish interior was created by Winch Design using rare and exclusive luxury materials throughout.

However, getting a look inside the yacht is easier said than done, because interior photos of Dilbar are surprisingly difficult to find, adding to the mystery surrounding one of the most expensive private vessels ever built.

What is known is that the yacht is home to some incredible features, including a 25m swimming pool that holds around 180 cubic meters of water, making it the largest pool ever fitted onboard a yacht and a helicopter pad.

Dilbar also boasts one of the largest diesel-electric power plants ever installed on a private vessel and contains more than 1,100km of cabling.

How Dilbar was built in just 52 months

Given its size, building Dilbar was never going to be an easy task.

The yacht’s enormous dimensions, advanced engineering systems and luxury interiors made it one of the most ambitious private yacht projects ever attempted.

Yet despite the challenge, the entire project was completed in just 52 months, an impressive timeframe for a vessel of this scale.

The finished yacht weighs in at 15,917 gross tons, making it the largest yacht in the world by interior volume rather than overall length.

While there are longer yachts sailing today, few can match the sheer scale of Dilbar’s interior spaces, engineering complexity, and eye-watering $800 million valuation.

It’s a floating mansion that makes even other superyachts look cheap.
