Dodge has announced it will be extending production of its popular Hemi-powered Durango SRT Hellcat and Dodge Durango R/T into 2025.
Dodge started putting its 5.7 liter Hemi V8s in Durangos back in 2004.
Then in 2021, a supercharged 6.2 liter Hemi V8 was introduced for the Durango SRT Hellcat.
Since their introduction, the powerful engines have proved to be a big hit with customers.

It looked like the end for Hemi V8 Dodge Durangos
Dodge marked 20 years of its Hemi-powered Durangos last year, with the release of a couple of special edition models.
The limited edition motors were thought to be all the more special due to the fact that Dodge was heavily rumored to be shutting up production of its Hemi-powered Durangoes last year.
It had been hailed as the end of an era, by car enthusiasts and left some wondering what it would mean for the US carmaker going forward.
However, now it seems the power V8s are getting a bit of a reprieve thanks to ‘market demand and customer feedback’.
“The Dodge Durango and the Hemi engine form a powerful pair, and Dodge will continue to produce the most powerful gas engine SUV on the planet into the 2025 calendar year,” Dodge CEO Matt McAlear said.
“It’s the perfect capstone for our celebration of 20 years of Hemi-powered Durango models.”
There are a couple of Hemi V8 options in 2025
The carmaker has revealed that Hemi lovers will be able to get their hands on two Hemi V8s Durangos.
First up, there’s the supercharged 6.2 liter Hemi Hellcat V8 engine, that can produce 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque.
Alongside this, there’s also the classic 5.7 liter Hemi V8 engine, that comes as standard on the Durango R/T and delivers 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.
As yet, it seems that production of the Hemi-fueled vehicles is only being extended by one year.
But given that the initial plans to get rid caused enough of a stir amongst Dodge’s customer base to get a reversal – who knows what the future holds?
