New York residents are being terrorized by a Dodge Challenger that’s been driving around the city making unusual noises.

Nobody seems to know who the owner is, leading to the New York Post branding the Mopar car ‘elusive’.

You may be thinking: ‘It’s a busy city, a bit of car noise is to be expected. What’s the big deal?’

Well, the Challenger is making animal sounds for a start – not the type of noise pollution you’d expect in the Big Apple.

The curious case of the Dodge Challenger

The Challenger has been seen driving around Roosevelt Island, with a chorus of mooing and barking coming out of a speaker.

It appears there’s no telling when they’ll strike, as the noises have been heard in the morning, afternoon and evening hours.

One local said to the New York Post: “It was probably funny in the beginning to some people, but I always thought it was just rude.”

The car’s windows are tinted too, so there’s no chance of identifying the culprit.

And perhaps you might be thinking: ‘Eh, let him have his fun. He’ll move on eventually.’

Oh no, the mysterious driver has been at this for two whole years.

He’s not getting bored anytime soon from the looks of it.

Or the sound of it, we should say.

There’s a lot of noise around car mysteries these days

This noisy car isn’t the first one to have people speculating online.

A McLaren parked outside a London hotel for years had tourists and locals alike contemplating its origin.

Then there’s the case of a Hyundai left on a Sydney beach.

It seems that no matter where you look, there’s a car somewhere that is provoking curiosity.

In the case of this animal noise Challenger, it’s also provoking rage, anger and annoyance.

Hopefully the issue gets resolved – maybe the driver could pull up outside one of New York’s zoos and act as a draw?
