This guy bought a used Dodge Ram for just $1,500, which sounds like a great deal, but it gets better when he learned what was under the hood.
This no-nonsense work truck hid a secret under the hood that made it worth even more.
Actually, the engine is probably worth more than the truck itself.
But there are two questions people are asking.

This truck happened to be powered by a supercar engine
A content creator who goes by Sherpa Offroad bought a beat-up, high-mileage Dodge Ram for just $1,500.
It sounded like a great deal, but it got better when he realized that the powertrain under the hood wasn’t original.
Instead, he found a Dodge Viper-sourced V10.
Yep, this do-anything, go-anywhere truck was equipped with an 8.3-liter V10 borrowed from a Dodge Viper.
The questions a lot of people in the comments had were actually quite logical.
The first one was, did the seller know?
The second one was, was this a Viper engine, or a Ram SRT-10 engine?
That’s because the Ram SRT-10 actually came with the same engine as the Viper, which means it could easily be fitted under the hood of another Ram.

The Dodge Viper was a surprisingly ‘simple’ supercar
The Dodge Viper was an icon, but it was a pretty low-tech icon.
Especially the first and second generations.
It didn’t have traction control, anti-lock brakes, or even A/C.
It didn’t even have airbags.
The engine was also quite rudimentary.

The V10 that the Viper used was designed in partnership with Lamborghini, but it was still based on the family of Chrysler LA engines.
And Chrysler LA engines are cast-iron powertrains designed for heavy-duty trucks.
The V10 was a little more sophisticated than that, and it had been redesigned with aluminum, but it was still pretty simple.
Now the Viper’s gone.
And we know the drill.
If it comes back, it’ll be a hybrid or an EV.
