A driving instructor has shown the correct way to stop at a stop sign, and it seems some drivers had no clue.
Most of us probably consider ourselves to be pretty savvy drivers.
But one driving instructor has been using his TikTok account to share various tips and tricks.
And it seems some motorists weren’t actually aware of how you’re supposed to stop at a stop sign.

How to properly stop at a stop sign
Learning to drive can be tough, as one would-be driver discovered when she failed her test for something she didn’t even know was a problem, or this learner who was left confused after being told to ‘go through a red light’.
Thankfully, there are driving instructors like Moe who post tips and hints on TikTok – where he’s known as @moethedrivinginstructor – to help out learner drivers.
In a recent post, he was asked by a follower to show how to stop at a stop sign after they admitted they felt like they were ‘stopping wrong’.

In the clip, Moe approached the stop sign marked ‘ALL WAY’, and explained that all cars must stop at the line or crosswalk.
After approaching the stop sign, he then brought his car to a stop for three seconds, before checking the road and driving off.
“Stop for three seconds first and then you check,” he explained.
“If you arrived first, then you’ve got the right of way.”
Next up, he showed how to stop at a normal stop sign.
He started off by pointing out that cars on the main road without a stop sign have the right of way here.
“First, you have to make sure you stop for three seconds,” he said.

If at this point, you don’t have a clear view of the road, Moe suggested rolling the car a little nearer to the line before stopping again for three seconds.
Once you’ve checked it is safe to go, you can carry on.
Do you need to stop for three seconds?
While it may seem pretty straightforward, one commenter questioned why Moe would stop for an entire three seconds when he gets to the line and asked if it was the law.
According to US road rules, there’s no set time you must stop at a stop sign – the law simply states that you must come to a complete stop.
Failing to stop, even by slowly rolling, can land you a ticket or cause an accident.
However, while there’s no rule about stopping for three seconds, it’s common for driving instructors to recommend it so learners have enough time to scan for pedestrians.
It can also come in useful when sitting your driving exam.
