The new Volvo EX60 is making a bold promise about what long-distance electric driving should feel like.

For years, EV road trips have come with planning and mental math.

But the manufacturer says this mid-size electric SUV removes most of that friction.

And the claim it’s making goes well beyond everyday commuting.

The Volvo EX60 turns Paris to Amsterdam into a single-charge drive

In its longest-range form, the Volvo EX60 is rated at up to 503 miles of range under WLTP testing

That’s enough, Volvo says, to drive from Paris to Amsterdam without plugging in once.

And still arrive with some battery left.

Of course, WLTP figures live in a perfect world.

Temperature, speed, terrain, and driving style all matter.

Volvo isn’t pretending otherwise.

But the point isn’t that every EX60 owner will casually cruise across countries on one charge.

It’s that the margin is finally there.

You’re no longer driving with one eye on the road and the other on a charging map.

And that confidence comes from what sits underneath.

The EX60 rides on Volvo’s new SPA3 platform, paired with an 800-volt electrical system and battery options topping out at 117kWh.

Efficiency has clearly been the priority, helped along by aero tweaks that push drag down to a claimed 0.26.

And when you do need to stop, the wait isn’t meant to feel like a commitment.

Volvo says the EX60 can add up to 211 miles of range in just 10 minutes using a 400kW fast charger.

That’s the difference between planning your lunch around a charger and treating charging like a quick coffee break.

This isn’t just about range, it’s the manufacturer’s EV reset

Range might grab the headlines, but this car matters for a simpler reason.

The EX60 is the electric SUV Volvo plans to sell the most of.

It’s built to work in lots of countries, for lots of buyers, and to sit at the center of the company’s electric lineup as an everyday default.

That said, power is there if you want it.

The top P12 all-wheel-drive version makes 670 horsepower, which is more than enough for a family SUV without turning it into a gimmick.

Inside, the focus is ease of use rather than flash.

The EX60 is Volvo’s first model with Google’s Gemini AI built in, runs Android Automotive, and offers Apple Music with Dolby Atmos through a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, including speakers in the headrests.

And as ever, safety stays familiar.

There’s a new adaptive seatbelt, a reinforced safety cage, and the kind of systems Volvo is known for.

All of it feeds into how the EX60 is meant to be used.

In real terms, this new electric SUV is rated to drive from Paris to Amsterdam on a single charge.

And Volvo now treats that distance as normal for a family SUV.
