What car does Elon Musk drive on a daily basis?

It’s an intriguing question because, as the Tesla co-founder and CEO, you’d expect him to drive one of his own.

But with an estimated net worth exceeding $240 billion, he can afford any car he wants.

It turns out the eccentric tech mogul is a gearhead and has built quite an extensive car collection.

His prized possessions include everything from a 1967 Jaguar E-Type Roadster to the Lotus Esprit “Submarine” used in the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me.

But, when it comes to tackling the daily commute, Musk has previously revealed his go-to ride is a Tesla Model S.

Back in 2019, Musk said in a tweet that his favourite daily driver was a Model S Performance.

Next up, he likes to get behind the wheel of the Model 3 Performance.

And when he’s driving with any of his nine kids in tow, he takes the keys to the brand’s Model X SUV.

That said, Musk is known to travel in a chauffeur-driven Tesla Model Y or Model 3 when showing up to his many corporate commitments.

And when he wants to keep a low profile, he opts for a blacked-out Model 3, which he drives behind his security team’s Cadillac Escalade in an effort to evade paparazzi.

However, Musk has made no secret of his excitement for the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck.

In fact, he was recently filmed testing the Cybertruck’s acceleration near Giga Texas, surrounded by journalists, some of Tesla’s executives and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

It’s not clear where Musk stores his sizable car collection, given the billionaire sold off much of his real estate portfolio in 2020, but we’re sure he’s allowed an extra parking space or two at the office.

Apparently, he lives in a three-bedroom rental property in Boca Chica, Texas which is close to a SpaceX facility.

He says his place is very affordable too.

“It costs like $45,000 or something,” Musk said last year.

“It’s very small.”
