Elon Musk has revealed the estimated cost to buy a new Tesla Cybercab – and it’s a lot cheaper than you might think.
We were given our first look at the brand-new autonomous taxi at the We, Robot event tonight.
Musk brought along 50 Cybercabs to the eagerly-anticipated event, held at the Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, California.
The location meant that Tesla could fully show off the Cybercab’s driverless capabilities.

Tesla boss Musk made an incredible entrance as he walked out of a cinema-set and straight into a waiting Cybercab.
The vehicle itself was – as ever with Tesla – pretty futuristic-looking, with doors that open upward a bit like butterfly wings.
The model was shown in a cool metallic grey shade with large dark windows.
Inside, there’s a small cabin with just enough space for two passengers – and, as the car is autonomous, there’s no steering wheel or pedals.
Although we know there are currently at least 50 of the Cybercabs in existence, Musk said that full production would roll out ‘before 2027’.
He went on to say that unsupervised fully autonomous Tesla Model 3s and Model Ys would be out and about on the road in California and Texas just next year.
Musk also revealed the price of the Cybercab
The Tesla boss also confirmed that the Cybercabs would be for sale to the public and that they’ll likely be very reasonably priced.
“We expect its cost to be below $30,000,” Musk said.
“I think it will be a glorious future.”
He reiterated this point, adding that he thinks we are heading into ‘the age of abundance’.
The suggested price of the Cybercab is lower than the Model Y, which starts at around $44,630 – and a whole lot cheaper than the Cybertruck that will set you back at least $81,895.
In a post on X, Tesla explained how the Cybercab will be ‘faster and more affordable’.
“No driver fee. No expensive radar or lidar equipment – FSD uses cameras alone,” the post read.
“Call it once and and it’s yours as long as needed, for quick trips or all day. Will be less than $30k when purchased.”
