Elon Musk has revealed the estimated cost of buying a Tesla Optimus Gen 2 humanoid robot.

Musk headed up the We, Robot Tesla event held at the Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, California.

At the event, he officially unveiled Tesla’s new self-driving taxis, which have been dubbed Cybercabs.

He also shared more details about the Optimus bot.

Elon Musk said the bots can basically ‘do anything’

Musk made a pretty grand entrance to the event, stepping out of a movie-set cinema and into a waiting Cybercab.

Making an equally attention-grabbing entrance was a whole group of Optimus robots that walked out into the crowd after the new Robovan reveal.

“The Optimus will walk amongst you,” Musk quipped to the crowd.

“You’ll be able to walk right up to them, and they will serve drinks.”

Later on in the night’s events, the robots could indeed be seen serving up drinks and, in somewhat bizarre scenes, dancing around.

Musk said the humanoid robots will be able to essentially ‘do anything’ such as walking your dog, mowing your lawn, and even babysitting your kids.

Musk went on to boldly claim that Optimus could be the ‘biggest product ever, of any kind’ – having previously said that he thinks the robots will make Tesla a $25 trillion company

But it seems that the robots themselves aren’t going to cost a fortune, with Musk saying they will become something that ‘anyone can own’.

“You can have your own personal R2D2 [or] C3PO,” he said

“And, I think, at scale, this will cost something like twenty or thirty thousand dollars. Probably… ess than a car, is my prediction long term.

“It will take us a minute to get to the long term, but fundamentally at scale, with the Optimus robot, you should be able to buy one at twenty or thirty, long term.”

Elsewhere at the event, Musk revealed that Cybercabs would be for sale to the public and that they’ll likely be similarly priced.

“We expect its cost to be below $30,000,” Musk said.

So for $60,000, you can get yourself a self-driving cab and a robot pal to do all your chores.

The future is looking exciting, isn’t it?
