The Emir of Qatar’s superyacht comes with custom tenders because the Emir is so tall.
Ordinarily, shipyards spend a lot of time customizing the yacht but a lot less time on tenders, AKA the smaller boats that come with them.
On this occasion, the shipyard in question, Lürssen, had no other choice.
This is why Al Lusail, the Emir’s yachts, has bespoke tenders designed specifically to accommodate his height.

Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, is one of the tallest heads of state in the world.
If we could make every current head of state stand in the same room together, Germany’s Friedrich Merz and Serbia’s Aleksandar Vučić – both six feet six – would tower over everyone else.
But Al Thani wouldn’t be too far behind, at six feet four.
As a result, Lürssen Yachts, the shipyard that built the Emir of Qatar’s superyacht, had to design bespoke tenders just for him.

We don’t know to what extent the custom tenders contributed to the price of the yacht.
But it probably doesn’t even matter anyway, considering the Qatari royal family’s net worth is estimated to be over $335 billion.
The superyacht was built in Germany by Lürssen, the same shipyard that also built the $450 million, 466-foot superyacht owned by Google co-founder Sergey Brin.
Made entirely from steel and aluminum and named after a city in Qatar, the yacht has room for up to 36 guests in massive suites as well as accommodation for 56 crew members.
It also features an indoor cinema, a full spa, a gym, an indoor pool, and a helipad.
There’s even a garage for a limousine, in case Qatar’s Emir decides to disembark in style.

It won’t surprise you that this is one of the world’s most expensive yachts.
With the exception of the famed History Supreme, which is actually just vaporware – it never existed – and Jeff Bezos’ Koru, very few yachts are more expensive than Al Lusail.
