A remarkable moment occurred in the UK after a man called the emergency services as he couldn’t unplug his EV.

It sounds unbelievable, but this really did happen, leaving emergency services in the country completely bemused as they took the phone call. Check it out for yourself in the video above.

The man had called the Metropolitan Police in London, and initially, it looked like he had called the police by mistake, and they said that he should call the car dealer.

As it turned out, the man had not called the police by mistake, and what followed was a truly bizarre exchange.

What happened after the EV owner called the police?

The man rang the police, describing it as not a ‘typical’ situation, before describing the issue with his EV.

He said he couldn’t remove the charger from the car and thus could not drive away.

He asked what he should do, before the lady on the phone told him he needed to contact the car dealer.

Thinking he may have called the police by mistake, she told him who he had called.

But the man just explained the issue again.

She then told him again that he had come through to the police, but he then said he knew exactly who he had called.

The man called it urgent for him, and once again asked if they could help him.

The police’s response to the EV owner

Despite the police telling him they couldn’t help, the man on the phone seemed to get quite irritated.

There was some swearing, before he then said, “I thought SOS was meant to help.”

But being unable to unplug an EV was not an emergency, and certainly not a police emergency.

The lady on the phone told him this, even telling him ‘no crime’ had been committed.

The caller got even more frustrated, exclaiming, “If that isn’t an emergency, then fine.”

He said it was an emergency to him.

But there was no way an officer would be sent out to unplug an electric car.

Angrily, he put the phone down, and the exchange was over.

When the woman at the Metropolitan Police turned up for work that day, she probably didn’t expect a phone call like that!
