Rally legend Ken Block is ready to launch a new electric spin-off for his world famous Gymkhana series.
It’s called the ‘Electrikhana’ and it follows the exact same concept as the Gymkhana, but with electric cars.
That’s good news because it means we can expect a lot more torque.
Electric cars are famously extremely fast off the line, and the Audi S1 Hoonitron that Ken Block will be using for the Electrikhana is no exception.
CHECK THIS OUT!
The electric unit delivers at least 1,400 hp and 2,212 lb-ft of torque at each axle.
It can propel the car from standstill to 60 mph in about 2 seconds.
More to the point, it will be able to do donuts at 93 mph.
Which is what we expect from Ken Block and the Electrikhana series.
It is also extremely expensive.
Audi and the Hoonigan team have reportedly spent at least $10 million to make this happen.
The first episode of the series takes place in Las Vegas, and it shows Ken Block doing its ‘thing’ in Sin City.
It feels and sounds quite spooky at first.
Electric cars are obviously silent – so all you can hear is the ‘hissing sound’ of the motor.
In addition to that, they harness and deliver power in a completely different way.
And that means Block had to reinvent some of his tricks.
It still looks great, though.
And don’t worry, the new Electrikhana series will not replace the Gymkhana.
It’s just a spin-off of the original series that was first launched in 2008.
Over the last 14-odd years, we’ve enjoying watching Block defy the laws of physics with amazing rally cars.
And that will continue in the foreseeable future.
