It might be 2025 on the calendar, but with a lineup straight out of 1985, a group of F1 legends is set to steal the show at the UK’s Goodwood 2025.

The iconic Festival of Speed will welcome some of the greatest names in Formula 1 history for a celebration of the sport’s 75th anniversary.

Fans can expect to see title-winning giants take to the famous Hillclimb in a display of racing heritage like no other.

For motorsport enthusiasts, it’s a dream weekend that promises both nostalgia and horsepower in equal measure.

Leading the ‘Champions’ class are some of the most decorated drivers the sport has ever seen.

Four-time World Champion Alain Prost will be joined by Mario Andretti, the 1978 champion and a true global motorsport icon.

Nigel Mansell, the famously mustachioed Brit who claimed the 1992 title in dramatic style, will also be present.

A couple of years ago, ordinary people had the opportunity to purchase Mansell’s 1989 Ferrari 640 F1 car for a cool $5.5 million.

The car even received a special deep clean, befitting its status as a legendary F1 car.

Sir Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jacques Villeneuve, and Mika Häkkinen complete the roster of F1 legends invited to Goodwood 2025 thus far.

Balancing the grid are the ‘Challengers’. These drivers may not have clinched a world title, but they left a significant mark on the sport.

Fan favourites such as Riccardo Patrese, Gerhard Berger, Johnny Herbert, and Mark Webber will return to the spotlight, bringing their racing stories to the Goodwood crowds.

While the Festival of Speed is known for its celebration of machinery, this year it’s just as much about the people.

Seeing these legendary drivers all in one place, with some potentially reunited with their old race cars, adds a human element that fans rarely get to witness.

The event promises more surprises as the date approaches, with organizers hinting at adding more F1 legends to the already star-studded lineup.

Whether you remember watching these drivers battle it out in period-correct overalls or you’ve only seen the highlights on YouTube, Goodwood 2025 is shaping up to be a true celebration of F1’s past.

So while it’s not quite 1985, for one spectacular weekend this summer, it might just feel like it.
