NY EV owner asks how gas beats Tesla Supercharger

These guys went to China to test the Zeekr 7X, arguably the fastest-charging EV in the world.

You can charge it nearly as quickly as you can fill up the tank of a gas car.

This makes the Zeekr a game changer.

At this rate, EVs will be just like gas cars pretty soon.

How fast is the world’s fastest-charging EV?

Drew Peterson and Kyle Conner from the Out of Spec Reviews YouTube channel flew to China to test the Zeekr 7X equipped with something the Golden Brick package.

In this spec, the car charges from 10 percent to 80 percent in around 10 minutes.

“0-80% in 10 minutes is mind blowing. At this speed it’s no different to buying gas”, the top comment in the video reads.

And Kyle Conner is equally impressed.

“We only did one charging session. Maybe we could’ve done better [if we tried more than once]. But this is the still the most insane charging performance we’ve seen,” he said in the clip.

Even though there is still a clear difference – refueling a car from empty to full obviously takes less than 10 minutes – they do have a point.

EVs have been ‘mainstream’ for about 10 years or so and, this whole time, people have been complaining about three things.

Range, infrastructure and charging time.

These days, you’ve got EVs with 600+ miles of range, better infrastructure (also thanks to the fact Tesla’s Superchargers are open to other brands) and 10-80 percent in 10 minutes is impressive.

There’s still a long way to go

Charging EVs can still take a long time.

Generally speaking, charging a Cybertruck from 0 to a full ‘tank’ still takes about 90 minutes.

Also, if we had to nitpick, we’d point out that, for some reason, automakers measure charging times from 10 percent to 80 percent.

But, with gas cars, people don’t ‘charge’ from 10-80 percent.

Most people generally refuel from nearly empty to a full tank, and that still takes less 10 minutes.

But, at this rate, it’s only a matter of time before you can charge an EV is just as quickly as you can refuel an internal combustion car.
