Moscow man spots stunning Ferrari F40
Today’s supercar story comes to you from the city of Moscow, Russia.
And at the heart of it, it is one of the most incredible supercars ever built.
A video posted to the Ferrari subreddit by @Big-Profit-8645 features what many call the greatest supercar ever built: the Ferrari F40.
Of course, such an iconic car is often copied but can never be truly replicated.
The man who posted the video wanted to ask other Ferrari fans if they thought the car was real or a fake.
Hi guys, hopefully a right community to ask – is this a real one?

Thankfully, it was a very real example.
‘It’s real and it’s spectacular’, one comment on the post noted.
‘100% real, you can spot a fake F40 immediately. Such a timeless design, incredibly beautiful’, another said.
Another commenter noted how you can actually tell the fakes from the real thing.
‘Usually the easiest way to tell is by looking at the dash – replicas generally have the dash of the donor car or a custom job.’
‘The F40 dashboard is very much all business, no frills.’
There you have it, a very real and very beautiful Ferrari F40 on the streets of Moscow.
Why is the Ferrari F40 considered one of the greatest supercars?
To many people, the Ferrari F40 is arguably the single-greatest Maranello car ever.
And it comes with an unbelievable amount of heritage to match.
Designed by Pininfarina, it remains one of the most unique supercars ever built.
The Maranello-engineered, 2.9 liter twin-turbo engine remains an incredibly beloved powerplant.
It still remains the last Ferrari car ever to be personally approved by Enzo Ferrari himself.
Nicola Materazzi, Ferrari’s chief engineer, personally pushed to have the F40 built.
He wanted to use the Group B Rally category to improve the performance of road-going cars.
Materazzi eventually got permission to develop the car, but under one condition:

It could only be built outside the normal working week (from Monday to Friday).
And thus, Materazzi and a small group of engineers spent their Saturdays developing what would become the F40.
When the FIA ended the Group B category in 1986, Maranello was left with development cars – but no series to enter them into.
Thankfully, a validation driver convinced Enzo Ferrari that the newly-developed platform could produce an incredible road car.
And thank God for that validation driver – because without his endorsement, the F40 project might have been scrapped entirely.
Can’t imagine a world without the Ferrari F40? We can’t either.
