The Bugatti Veyron Pur Sangs remain among the rarest hypercars ever built.

As a matter of fact, the French marque only ever built five of them.

The very first of the Bugatti Veyron Pur Sangs was recently sold at auction.

And it sold for $2,100,000 – with the legendary speed key included.

First-ever of five Bugatti Veyron Pur Sangs sells for big money

Bugatti is a brand that is known for going all-out at the very best of times.

But the Pur Sangs represent the pinnacle of that pinnacle.

The French brand first unveiled these cars back in 2007.

Stealing the stage at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show would be what would become the Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang.

In case you were unaware, ‘Pur Sang’ means ‘pure blood’ or ‘thoroughbred’.

What made this hypercar model so fascinating isn’t necessarily the name.

Instead, what makes it so fascinating is that just five units were ever built.

And now, the very first of the five has just been sold at auction.

The auction, hosted by RM Sotheby’s, saw the hypercar fetch an unbelievable sum.

By the end, this Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang sold for a staggering $2,100,000.

Oh – and it came with a secret little ingredient that changed the game.

When the Veyron was released, it came with something called the speed key.

This secondary ignition key is what allowed all Veyron models to hit their true top speed.

Without it, the hypercar couldn’t get close to hitting its full 253mph.

Pur Sang represents the pinnacle

Of course, the Bugatti Veyron was already an incredibly special vehicle in its own right.

But the Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang took the model to a completely different level.

When it was revealed back in 2007, it wowed the masses.

For one thing, it remains an incredibly striking car to look at.

Unlike your typical multi-million dollar hypercar, the Veyron Pur Sangs were finished in all chrome.

This minimalist approach made it an extremely striking vehicle.

Inside, the finish is just as lovely to look at and appreciate.

A stunning mix of cream interior and grey/chrome finishing complements the exterior to a tee.

The previous owners of this Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang have maintained it meticulously.

Despite having just 4,742 miles on the odometer, it looks like a brand-new car.

Even today, the Bugatti Veyron Pur Sangs remain the pinnacle of Veyron design and philosophy.
