A man in Florida has shared an honest review of his Tesla Powerwall 2 which was put to the test during Hurricane Milton.

Hurricane Milton hit Flordia in October of last year, resulting in the tragic deaths of 35 people, plus billions of dollars worth of damage.

During the hurricane, many Florida homes and businesses were left without electricity

However, one homeowner, says his Powerwall came to the rescue.

As well as creating cars, Cybertrucks, and advanced autonmous robots, Tesla also produces the Powerwall – a ‘compact home battery that stores energy generated by solar or from the grid’.

The Tesla Powerwall can be used to keep devices and appliances running in your home – or your EV topped up – during outages.

A homeowner who had a Powerwall 2 fitted in at his Florida property says that the device proved invaluable during Hurricane Milton back in October.

In a post on Reddit, he explained that his Tampa Bay home had been hit hard by the hurricane and was one of the many that lost power.

His electricity supplier got in touch to say that it could be almost a week before power was restored. Not ideal.

But this is where the Powerwall stepped in – and it’s safe to say its owner was impressed.

The homeowner heaped praise on the Tesla Powerwall

After initially using the Powerwall to keep his home comfortable overnight, the sunshine the following day was able to recharge the battery thanks to its solar panels.

“House uses around 0.3/0.4 kW per hr at night, so we wake up using around 20-30 percent battery,” he wrote.

“Friday was even better sun, I was able to turn on the second AC and prepare the house for the night. Tomorrow we will also charge our Model Y (my wife had to go to work).”

He went on to say that despite being impacted by the hurricane, he had been largely able to use his house ‘while everyone around us is hot and fighting to get gas for their generator’.

He finished up his glowing review by telling fellow Floridians to seriously consider getting a Powerwall.

“If you were on the fence, and live in Florida, I recommend it,” he wrote.

“Very very happy with the purchase.”
