One Florida man, who is also a YouTuber, decided to secretly fix a long-forgotten truck into a heartwarming surprise for a close friend.
The video opens with the YouTuber explaining his mission: Mikey, a friend who’s a dab hand at powder coating, had left his square-body truck sitting untouched for over a decade.
While he expressed his wish to fix it up one day, he never got around to doing it.
Rather than getting annoyed that the beast of a vehicle had been rusting away in his yard, the Florida man saw it as an opportunity to help out a friend…and possibly clear some space in his yard.

It wasn’t easy to secretly fix this truck
The heartwarming video was shared on JH Diesel and 4X4’s YouTube channel.
It’s not uncommon for cars that are stored in backyards to be left to rot, like this Porsche 930 with 23,000 miles on it, or these forgotten muscle cars in this Georgia backyard.
However, this YouTuber was keen not to let that happen.
The truck itself is a square-body monster, picked up secondhand years ago and built like a tank.

It’s got old-school squared tubing, a massive 454 big-block engine, a hydraulic step, SCS transfer case, and towering five-ton axles, which are all the ingredients for off-road chaos.
But after sitting dormant for so long, it needed a lot of help.
A leaking shock was the first red flag, though the frame proved to be impressively solid.
Other problems included a dead fuel pump and a dodgy ignition switch.
After replacing the pump, and fixing a grounding issue, the YouTuber and his team bypassed the ignition entirely with a push-button starter.
To everyone’s relief, the engine roared to life with a smooth idle, functional fans, and only a puff of black smoke.
Not bad for something that hadn’t fired in 10 years.
Next came the first test drive, which wasn’t exactly graceful.

The brakes gave off a nostalgic dust smell, and the steering was described as ‘twitchy,’ if not downright sketchy.
Still, the truck spun its tires and roared through a few impressive accelerations.
Despite its rough appearance and worn suspension, the long-forgotten truck was clearly built tough.
A very wholesome Florida man exchange
By the end of the video, Mikey is brought in for the big reveal, showing that he was extremely grateful that his friend decided to secretly fix his truck
He’s also floored to see his truck not only running, but cleaned up and driven.
In fact, he can’t resist getting in to take it out for a spin almost immediately after reuniting with it.

They chat about the next steps: fixing the drive shaft and front end, maybe even taking it off-road.
It’s a wholesome story of friendship, mechanical know-how, and making the most out of a forgotten yard ornament.
It turns out that if you want your long-forgotten truck fixed, instead of going to the dealer, maybe you should leave it in your friend’s yard.
