This Florida man has warned that a simple tire change could total this $400,000 supercar if it’s not done correctly.
YouTuber JamiesGarage1 put out a video to warn his subscribers about a potentially costly mistake.
The supercar in question was the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.
While replacing a tire is a pretty standard procedure to carry out on a car, things get a little more complicated with the SLR.

When it comes to cars, tires are a big deal.
It may seem like a self evident statement, as cars literally wouldn’t be able to run without them, but it bears repeating.
When it comes to supercars, things are no different.
We’ve seen some interesting developments with tires over the years, including the development of tires that never puncture and the Sultan of Brunei’s $54,000 tires on his Lamborghini LM002 wagon.

But $54,000 is nothing compared to what it could cost you if you incorrectly put the tires on a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.
Jamie, host of the YouTube channel JamiesGarage1, took his subscribers through what to keep an eye out for.
It’s no secret that the SLR is a magnificent supercar, as it marked the start of both Mercedes and McLaren.
There are a few unique features in this car.
Firstly, the engine is located behind the front axles.
Secondly, it has side exhausts which ‘dump out’ behind the front wheels.
But the most significant feature is the carbon fiber tub.

“It’s really strong and lightweight, but also really fragile at the same time,” Jamie said.
“If it’s not lifted completely even, it can crack the windshield or even break the tub.”
So this means that fitting a tire requires some extra steps.
“We have these special adapters that fit to our two-post lift and screws into the body of the car,” Jamie said.
“Then you have to open up the hood, trunk and doors to help the body relax.

“As you can see, it’s a very complicated process just to lift the vehicle.
“In the event of a flat tire where somebody uses a floor jack, you could total this car.”
And you definitely don’t want to be doing that.
Not only will cash come flowing out of your bank account, chances are there’ll be some water flowing from your eyes too.
