Ford CEO Jim Farley has confirmed that a gas-powered pickup truck is on the way, as 2026 brings even more new car news to the surface.
Gas versus EV has always been a hot topic, and by 2030, a new gas alternative will reportedly be available.
The new affordable gas-powered pickup will be made in the US.
The size, powertrain, price point, and exterior details are being hushed up for now, but the Ford CEO did reveal some exciting information.

It’s a big transition period for Ford
In the car world, demand changes regularly, and over at Ford, the company is listening to its customers, announcing this week that it is set for a shakeup.
With the new F-150 Lightning replacement set to enter the market imminently after its predecessor’s 2025 cancellation, all eyes are on what’s coming next.

In fact, the F-150 Lightning’s incoming replacement is set to be an extended-range vehicle, with the current F-150 Lightning production stopping.
Details, including a sub five second acceleartion period and even an estimated range of 700 miles, were laid out by the company in recent weeks.
But, it seems that it isn’t the only news that Ford has to offer.
What did Jim Farley really say?
The CEO confirmed the news of a new gas-powered truck to the President as he toured around Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan this week, according to reports.

“We’re adding a combustion vehicle – a combustion truck, an affordable one – in Tennessee, to the president’s note.
“We’re going to actually expand one of our existing plants and make a different kind of truck there.”
We should stress that even though this has just been announced, the vehicle is still years away from hitting the production line.
The news comes after the car brand announced the renaming of the Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center on the BlueOval city campus to be called the Tennessee Truck Plant.
The renaming is in aid of the plan for the facility to produce affordable gas-powered trucks, and will replace the next-gen EV truck.
So, it’s all systems go at Ford, but don’t fear, as other reports suggest a new EV pickup will be on the way, with the gas-powered truck to come after.
